The holidays truly are over, and it is time to hit the road again here at Simple Talk. In March I have 3 events, all of which are basically back to back (and finishing off with a bit of vacation.)
Familiar Territory – SQL Saturday Atlanta BI

On March the 8th, I am heading down to Atlanta, GA for SQL Saturday Atlanta BI Edition. This is honestly a bit of a special event for me in a few ways. First, because I am debuting a new sessions contrasting Relational and BI database design. More on that in a few lines.
Second, this was one of the conferences I had to cancel last year due to my broken hip. So I am very much looking forward to a makeup session.
The funny part about this session is that I thought I was submitting it as a 10 minute lightning talk. But it was on the schedule as an hour, so I went with it. When I was was practicing the 10 minute version, it was busting at the seams, but not 50 minutes worth. But I practiced my new version today and it is approaching 60 minutes (without anyone asking questions, but also with me in my “professional voice” and not my “nervous chipmunk voice”.
New Territory – Redgate Summit London
When I get done with SQL Saturday, that night I am flying over to the UK for the first Redgate Summit of the year.

This seems like it is going to be really cool! The location is Tottingham Stadium, and our team has an outing on Monday seeing some sights around London. Assuming I am actually awake for it, they have some fun stuff planned for us.
This will be my first time sightseeing in London since 2000 when I spoke at the PASS in London. Boy that was a long time ago. Either way, I will post some pictures from this event in the blog, as well as on my Drsql Instagram.
New Territory, but in a familiar location
From there I fly back to Atlanta, then I head south for a more typical Louis trip, back in my car going south.

March 19-21, I will be at Postgres Conference 2025 in Orlando, FL. This will be my second PostgreSQL event I have attended in person. The first was PGConf NYC (which I hope to make it back to!), but this time it is (coincidentally) in my favorite city to visit.
Three of the speakers at this conference are Simple Talk writers Ryan Booz and Grant Fritchey, and one more who is just about to be published with a whole series of posts on PostgreSQL. Looking forward to mingling with this community more and learning more and more about PostgreSQL too.
Full disclosure, when put this calendar on my schedule, I had no idea it would be in Orlando. In fact it was on my schedule as “Postgres Conference in San Jose” because it was something I planned to do last year. The conference is being held at the Doubletree just outside of Universal, but I am there to learn, so I don’t have any plans to go to Universal (at this time!)
I am not complaining because we already had a vacation planned in March, so you know, I will be visiting this place before and after the conference.

Just the start
That’s how the travel year is getting started, but that isn’t all, in April, I will start sharing more conferences as soon as we finalize some things, but in the first half of the year we are sponsoring 4 conferences as Simple Talk!
